Here on the Treasure Coast, the hot season is just around the corner. If your air conditioner has not already been serviced for the season, now is the time to do so.
We want to make sure that your HVAC system is operating sufficiently. For this reason, it’s important that you perform a bit of maintenance.
Curious as to what this maintenance entails? Then read below. This Treasure Coast Air Conditioning has all the information you’ll need to know.
Clean Up the Condenser Area
First and foremost, you’re going to want to clean up your air conditioner’s condenser area. This is necessary to ensure that the condenser is performing as efficiently as possible.
Start by trimming up any hedges or plants in its general proximity. At a minimum, there should be at least 5 feet of clearance between the condenser and any surrounding shrubbery. However, 10 or more feet is ideal.
Once you’ve trimmed up the shrubbery, take a look into the condenser itself. Do you see any debris? If so, you’ll want to remove it. Failure to remove debris from your condenser could lead to substantial damage, as well as limited efficiency.
Swap Out the Filter
Air conditioners are constantly prone to taking on dust and debris. While some of this dust and debris ends up inside of the air conditioner’s corresponding duct system, a good amount of it ends up in its filter. For this reason, you’ll want to swap out your air conditioner filter every 1 to 2 months.
Vacuum the Vents
As was noted above, air ducts are exposed to a great deal of dust and debris. At a certain point, this dust and debris can reach critical mass, preventing air from passing through the ducts to different portions of the house. For this reason, you should consider having your duct system cleaned every year.
However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do anything in between cleanings. At the very least, you should be vacuuming out your vents. Vacuuming your vents not only improves airflow, but air quality as well.
